5 Members of Filipino Family Killed in Delaware Car Crash, Only the Mother Survives

A Filipino father and his four daughters were killed in a multi-vehicle car crash on a highway in Townsend, Delaware. Only the mother survived, but with serious injuries.

As per The Filipino Times, the fatalities were identified as 61-year-old Audie Trinidad and his daughters, 20-year-old Kaitlyn, 17-year-old Danna, and 13-year-old twins, Melissa and Allison. The mother, Mary Rose, was the lone survivor. She was hospitalized with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The tragic accident occurred at around 4 p.m. on Route 1 Highway in Townsend. The police said a southbound pickup truck crossed the median of the highway and hit a northbound car. After hitting the car, the truck continued traveling southbound on the northbound lanes where it crashed into the Filipino family’s mini-van.

According to the police, Audie and Mary Rose were wearing seatbelts, but the girls were not.

The driver of the pickup truck and his companion were rushed to a hospital and were released after treatment. Likewise, the driver of the car that was first hit by the truck was released from the hospital after treatment.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Mary Rose by a family friend.

“It is unknown at this time the amount of support this mother will need and we did not intend to set a limited goal. However, any assistance of any kind is greatly appreciated at this difficult time,” the page read.
